I know it might seem odd an Android site with an article about Apple AirPlay, but I do have a MacBook and sometimes I get sent gadgets to play with that perhaps don't warrant a full video but are still kinda handy. This MagicEther Wireless dongle is one such device.
On intial inspection of the contents of the box, it might look a little complex, but it really isn't.
It was very easy to set up as I have a network switch behind my TV to plug the (very long) network cable into. I have USB power sockets on a power strip behind the TV and a spare HDMI input on the TV itself. Plug all those in and you're basically ready to go!
Once I booted the MacBook Pro up, click the icon on the top bar and it drops down options (pictured) where you select the MagicEther device.
Simple as that I'm looking at my MacBook screen on the TV. On the touchbar I can select to either Mirror the screen or extend the display, which basically makes my TV work as a separate screen that I can drag windows onto. Very handy!
Quite a handy little device for only £17.99!
